In this episode James Sinclair, serial entrepreneur who has multiple bricks and mortar businesses including children’s day nursery’s, entertainment parks and commercial property

Talks to Charlie and Fredrik about how he started out, why it’s important to recognise not everyone can be an entrepreneur and the why YouTube is the winner in social media engagement.

James offers an insight into his books and shares some business advice that can be effectively used by anyone who is thinking about getting into business. As someone who himself decided to ‘just go for it’ James, Charlie and Fredrik chat about how to effectively grow your brand from a young age in a way that is scalable and effective, listen in and hear more.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

I started building a magic business performing at children’s parties and then we went onto open our own attractions.
I learnt that what I had was a profitable job, not a profitable business.
This inspired me to want to build a team around me so that I could step away from the day to day running.
Once you get the mindset right you can source the money
We are told that if we are not good at something we should keep trying when in fact what you should do in business is buy in what you are not good at and focus on the things you excel at.
When you look at great leaders they are passionate, resilient and they have a great vision.
You can’t see ‘it’ but those people who have ’it’ are the ones that will survive and thrive as entrepreneurs.
People spend on average 40minutes on YouTube, if you can get people to watch you can engage them.
I have always tried to get in front of mentors who are doing really well and better than me in the sectors I’m in.
Entrepreneurship plus management equals success
Entrepreneurship starts a business; management makes it a success. Choose a business that has margin and you’ll always be able to make it a success.
Choose a business that has instant sales. From day one you’ll have instant cash flow business don’t fail because of lack of money they fail because of lack of cash flow.
Choose a business that someone will want to buy. At some point, there will be an exit and you will want to have a business that someone will want to buy.
Choose a business that banks like to fund. Some sectors are easy to fund, some sectors are hard to fund.
Choose a business with high price profitable sales. You also want to have low price profitable sales so people can try you out.
Is it a ‘me too’ business or one with barriers to entry. Try and make barriers to entry, the more niche you are the less competition there is.

BEST MOMENTS

‘Most entrepreneurs are control freaks and want to do everything themselves’

‘With exactly the same content some people take action and smash it making huge amounts in a very short amount of time whilst others are still sitting on the side-lines’
