Two Reasons Your Church Job Might End Poorly - Mark Oestreicher

Two Reasons Your Church Job Might End Poorly - Mark Oestreicher

So many of us have found ourselves in situations where we are either fired or leave our churches.  What is the reason that this is so common in church work.  Could there be some way to avoid being blindsided with a church job going south?  Join Josh and his guest Marko as they discuss some practical ways that negative church work experiences might be avoided even from the interview process.

Mark Oestreicher has been involved in church ministry his whole life, particularly with teenagers and youth workers. Marko has had a broad experience working in churches in roles ranging from Junior High Pastor to Executive Pastor. For 11 years, Marko was at Youth Specialties in San Diego, an organization that trains and equips church youth workers – the last 8 of those years as president. Concurrently, Marko was also a part of the leadership team of Zondervan (Grand Rapids, MI).

Marko has authored or contributed to more than 70 books, including the much-talked-about Youth Ministry 3.0. Marko is a partner in The Youth Cartel, providing resources, training and coaching for church youth workers.

Still speaks to the hurting 1 1/2 years later

Healing from church hurt is messy and brings its own kind of pain. These stories remind us there are others passing through the valley with us as we seek healing and restoration. They are worth the listen, especially when you begin to feel alone and isolated in your journey. Something will resonate and bring comfort to your soul.

Love the rawness behind these stories

My world was flipped upside down by being hurt due to church leaders. I have been looking for a podcast and finally found something I can relate to and feel somewhat normal. This happens to many people but there is healing and hope and I find it in things such as this podcast. Thankful God led me here.

Eye-opening and honest!

As someone who has NOT been hurt by the church, it is so eye-opening to listen to this and hear what other people are experiencing! I love that Josh does not edit the thoughts or opinions of his guests, even if it seems like he may not agree 100%. I highly recommend this podcast if you are part of a church so that you can understand the feelings and experiences of people who need us to love and serve them!
