Helm, Ruby and Sand: Sandman eps 1-5

Brian and Sam enter the Dreaming to discuss the first five episodes of the Netflix show Sandman, based on the comic written by Neil Gaiman.  Setting the tale in a dream world gives Gaiman a great deal of freedom in writing.

    Strange New Worlds and Fate

    Strange New Worlds and Fate

Throughout the fantastic first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, one of the major plot threads, if not the biggest thread, is Captain Pike struggling with the foreknowledge of his future death. Brian and Sam discuss this new offering to the Star Trek world and that meaty topic of fate and determinism.

Wonderfully magical

There is just something about acknowledging the very obvious line between theology and fantasy/comics. It’s all parable. It’s all story. It’s all myth. And it’s all applicable to humanity.

Sam and Brian engage every conversation with knowledge and experience but also always make everything accessible to those new to the topics. Highly recommend! (But can’t support the consumption of grape nuts.)

The geek shall inherit the earth

Thoughtful discussion of geek-y pop culture through the lens of faith traditions. The wide range of guests makes the conversation feel inclusive, with a broad interpretation of both geekiness and faith expression.
