Ep 188 How Sheetal Sheth Is Claiming Her Stage

Ep 188 How Sheetal Sheth Is Claiming Her Stage

Have you ever found yourself in an audience and looked up at the woman on stage and wondered, how? How does she do that? On today's episode, I asked a lot of "how" questions of my guest, Sheetal Sheth. Sheetal is an actress, author, producer, and activist. Sheetal’s breakout role came in Albert Brooks’ “Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World” and she is known for her performances in a wide range of memorable roles in film and on television. I asked Sheetal to share her experience as an Indian American woman making her way in Hollywood and how she was able to find her voice as a young actress and now in her other roles as activist, producer, and author. We also discussed how she has gotten over her fear of rejection, how she has continued to roll out new work, and what has kept her motivated as she worked her way up. She also offers advice on how to step out and tell your story both on stage and through a book.

Her latest children’s book, Bravo Anjali, comes out next week on September 21st. It is the follow up to Always Anjali, which debuted to critical acclaim and became a favorite for schools and parents.

    More about Sheetal Sheth:
Sheetal is also a cancer survivor and outspoken advocate who served in President Clinton's AmeriCorps and is currently on the advisory board of Equality Now and an ambassador for Jennifer Newsom's, The Representation Project. Learn more about Sheetal here.

Ep 187 A Surprising Benefit That Comes from Speaking Up

Ep 187 A Surprising Benefit That Comes from Speaking Up

Welcome back! I hope you had a great couple of months. It’s good to be back. On today’s episode, I make an announcement about a couple changes to the show going forward, address how the questions I posed in the last episode impacted my life, and I share a HUGE surprising gift I gave myself by speaking up on a couple occasions. If you’re a people pleaser or don’t like to “rock the boat,” this episode will get you thinking differently about all you can gain by speaking up for yourself.

Ep 186 Recreating Your Life & Summer Vacation

Ep 186 Recreating Your Life & Summer Vacation

We all just went through a year of unexpected twists and turns. What can we learn from it? Anytime we go through something dark, difficult, or traumatic, it changes us. That means we may find that we have new reasons for doing what we’re doing, we may care about different things, and we might have to reprioritize. It’s a scary time and an exciting time because you get to destroy and then create. On today’s show, I go into some questions you can ask yourself to help you recreate your life with the perspective of who you are today.

    These questions include:

    How am I defining myself?
    Where is the life?
    Where are my allies?
    Where are the breadcrumbs?
    What is motivating me today?
    What is most fulfilling?
Where am I looking for validation?
What are my three goals for the rest of 2021?
    What is my origin story?

What got you here won’t get you there.

Ep 184 Live Coaching: Dealing with Anxiety When Speaking, Selling When Live on Social Media

Welcome to our first live coaching episode! Today we take questions from listeners Dana Hahn and Becky Vesce.

Dana asks: I want to provide training for teachers on the topic of how to support grieving children in the classroom. How can I eliminate the fear and anxiety of speaking to large groups of professionals?

Becky asks: I go live on Facebook and Instagram regularly for my makeup business. I like to keep it educational and casual but I struggle with the ask. How can I get my sales pitch in without breaking the trust of my audience?
