Club Championship | Round 2 Review The Mayo Football Podcast

Two rounds of matches have now been contested in this year's Senior, Intermediate and Junior club football Championships, with the group tables in all three competitions starting to take shape as the knockout stage starts to come into view. In this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we survey how things stand in the SFC, IFC and JFC after the opening two rounds of games. Mayo News editor Mike Finnerty hosts the show and he's joined by Edwin McGreal and Ger Flanagan. Ger reflects on his own Senior championship debut at the weekend,  giving us an insight into the mood in the Balla camp after they lost to Ballaghaderreen and now face into a crunch Round 3 tie against high-flying Westport the weekend after next. We then hear from Westport’s in-form full-forward, Kevin Keane, after his team beat Castlebar Mitchels to qualify for the quarter-finals. In other post-match chat, Mike hears from Ballina Stephenites manager, Niall Heffernan, after his team got off the mark by beating Claremorris.Next we check in on our roving reporters Ed McGreal and Rob Murphy who give us a feel for the atmosphere and occasion in Cong as they watched Garrymore beat The Neale.
