    In this episode, Shannon chats with DJ Sneak about his immersion into the diverse musical landscape of Chicago, where he found inspiration in underground house music and honed his DJing skills amid a crowded field of talent.


    DJ Sneak's musical journey began with a vibrant blend of salsa and meringue in his native Puerto Rico, setting the stage for his exploration of diverse rhythms. Upon arriving in Chicago, he found himself immersed in the pulsating energy of the city's iconic warehouse and block parties, where influential DJs like Farley Jackmaster Funk left an indelible mark on his evolving sound.


    The self-proclaimed “house gangster” played a pivotal role in the emergence of 'filtered disco' tracks, with his iconic release "You Can't Hide From Your Bud," setting a new standard for funky, disco-infused house music worldwide.


    Sneak spoke about his remarkable career, working with house music legends like Daft Punk and Louie Vega, and his involvement in Chicago’s graffiti-tagging community. He also touched on his outspokenness on social media, how he's grown since ditching Twitter, working at the legendary Gramaphone Records in Chicago, and the relentless work ethic that continues to drive his prolific output of music.

Individually, Lovie and Honey Bun have been shaking up the NYC dance scene with their fun sets filled with disco, house, Y2K-era bangers, and whatever else they can manage to sneak into their impeccable record bags.


    Together, the duo throws Soul Connection, a recurring party that encourages dancers to connect with their minds, souls, and bodies on the dance floor.


    Shannon spoke to the DJs about their entryway into the NYC dance scene and their backgrounds growing up in Texas and Washington D.C. They also spoke about their fun individual projects, their banging Boiler Room sets in 2023, and how their amazing party Soul Connection came to be.

    For episode 82, we dive into the vibrant world of a self-taught producer and DJ, @nextdimensional.
    In 2018, nextdimensional packed her bags and made the move from Minneapolis to the bustling streets of Brooklyn. Since then, she's been a force to be reckoned with in the New York City music scene. Independently releasing music and curating her own event series, Lucid Dream, nextdimensional has ignited the decks at hotspots like Mi Sabor Cafe and Mood Ring. She’s also taken her energetic sets abroad to Tokyo.


    Nextdimensional is the co-founder of Lucid Radio which she runs alongside Dev Moore out of their shared studio in Ridgewood. The fun radio series showcases emerging talent in the underground dance music scene here in New York and abroad.


    Nextdimensional's production is unmatched. She combines ethereal and wavy soundscapes with pulsing hypnotic rhythms. With a penchant for variety, her original works traverse the realms of breaks, techno, and East Coast-inspired club music. It's a sonic adventure that keeps her audience on their toes and her new EP "Mazeworld" perfectly embodies the spirit of her dreamlike electronic production.


    In this episode, nextdimensional spoke to Shannon about her upbringing in Minnesota and the DIY culture in her hometown that inspired her love for music and art. She also touched on her production, her passion for teaching and the inspiration behind her new EP “Mazeworld.”

Incredible! So much value!

I love this podcast!. It’s in my daily routine now . I lived abroad for several years and it brings back such great memories . The insight and info shared by Shannon is truly insider knowledge. I hope this show blows up so more people can see this world . First hand experience of developing the music scene in a foreign country is so interesting ! Also it’s really well produced and I have heard a lot of cool music I never heard of before . I hope you guys can share more of that music! Keep rolling !
