Hey, Lou here, and just an update. Due to the fact that I am the one doing all the work on this awesomely entertaining and informative show, I have decided that it will be published monthly. That will give me the time to edit, record, research and produce episodes that you will, I hope,find satisfying. So, to all my like 10 listeners out there, I’m sorry. But this will allow me to produce fantastic episodes that will leave you awe-struck. Or not. Either way, put in your coffee and drink it.

On this episode I want to go a little deeper into our exploration of America as a republic or a democracy, and what that means. With how divided our nation still is and a presidential election coming, the likelihood of electing an autocrat seems to be looming in our future. I want to understand whether the reality that our nation isn’t a true democracy, but a republic, affects anyone’s perception of our nation. Very recently the argument has been made that democracy in our nation is not at risk because America is not a democracy, but a constitutional republic. Because of this, only certain portions of the population have full rights, like white, Christian men. But is this true? In this informative episode we discuss this precarious topic.

According to the CDC, 150 people die every day from fentanyl-related overdoses. Annually, this is the equivalent of a 737 commercial airplane crashing every day. Yet despite this horrific reality, it has become something that has been swept under the rug, or used by politicians as a way of fear-mongering to win votes. The idea, the inkling of a real conversation, is fiercely debated, and now tossed aside unless it is used for optics. In this episode, we are joined by an activist, Moses Santana, who has been advocating for one of the highly debated responses to this health crisis: overdose prevention. We discuss questions whether the use use of tactics like the availability of Narcan or clinics, will really save lives and solve this devastating problem.

It is said that you should be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Recently that is exactly what happened with the GOP and the Freedom Caucus when Hunter Biden responded to their subpoena by offering to testify publicly in Congress. When that occurred Republicans got scared, and they rejected it. Their big chance to humiliate and prove the corruption of the Biden’s and Republicans drop the ball. Why?
