A podcast about The National. Coming soon.
Bonus: 'I Am Easy To Find' launch
As the band launch a new album and a new film simultaneously, Chris and Dave review and discuss this ambitious new project, chat to Bryce Dessner and Scott Devendorf about the division of labour on a project like this, and meet Eve Owen, a 19-year-old singer who features on the album.
S1 Ep13: Reflections
The myriad stories that interweave throughout 'Boxer' and beyond all come together as we take a final look at the record as a whole.
S1 Ep12: 'Gospel'
We consider what it means to end the album in a garden, beneath holiday rainbow lights and with a nice icy drink in your hand.
S1 Ep11: 'Ada'
Ada lets us all have her neck. "The touching of a person's neck is much more intimate than kissing them on the mouth, don't you think?" - Matt Berninger
S1 Ep10: 'Racing Like A Pro'
Boxer's young professional takes a look in the mirror and asks us: "What is it all worth?"
S1 Ep9: 'Guest Room'
We enter "prison for jerks" and find two people struggling to escape this relationship jail of their own making.

Podcast I didn’t know existed and now absolutely love.
I came across your podcast about two days ago from a comment exchange on Instagram between you and Matt. I have to say I’m simply devouring this, as a fan of The National (grew up in CT) came across them when Alligator was released and have seen them live many many times. Everything about this I’m a fan of. The production value, the way you break down each track and give an entire episode to it, the intermingling of the interview segments, the music, your discussions. It’s awesome. My only concern is I will complete the first season too quickly and be left waiting for the second. These are the conversations I’d love to be having with friends and fellow fans. Conversations I’ve had in my own head many times as I’ve listened to the records and contemplated the lyrics and musical flourishes. Thanks for making this. Awesome podcast.
I'm a fan of the band and I absolutely love the pod. I really hope there can be more seasons that discuss other records by The National! There are so many other songs that deserve this kind of insightful discussion! Maybe you could do an episode or two on some of the great individual songs that havent made it on to an album? You guys have just scratched the surface. Keep up the good work.
I have loved the national since I was 15 years old like no other band. What a nice listen about one of my favorite albums. Can’t wait to hear more!
