Old Pals Compliment Old Complaint Rock
Two boyhood chums, now in their fortymumble years, relive the joys of their shared Midnight Oil fandom, their decades of friendship, and their own musical talents. A great series even if you don’t particularly care for Australian complaint rock.
Thanks for making me smarter
I will forever be grateful to Darren Foulds for passing on the information that this line from "King of the Mountain" is a reference to the Aboriginal flag:
"Yellow-bellied black snake sleeping on a red rock, waiting for the stranger to go."
That is completely brilliant, and should have been obvious, but I didn't realize it until he woke me up.
Superb insight on a legendary band
This podcast is a well-researched deep dive through the history and music of Midnight Oil. I can’t recommend it enough.
