In the past, the doors of the church opened inward, but now the people of our communities are no longer coming in through our doors as they once did. Approximately 78 percent of LCMS congregations have reached a plateau or are declining while, at the same time, the number of people claiming little or no connection to God through His Son, Jesus is rapidly growing. God is calling the church to open our doors outward as the people of God seek to establish connections, form relationships, and invite new disciples of Jesus into life focused on His good gifts.

In February, a team from St. John's, Winsted attended the Best Practices for Ministry Conference in Phoenix. Some of the team members shared with us what they experienced and learned, and how those things have affected their ministry within the congregation and how the congregation's ministry continues to be shaped by this conference.
