On 05 December, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case which centers on whether creative businesses can refuse service due to its First Amendment rights of free speech and free exercise of religion in light of public accommodation laws.  Specifically,  can one refuse to provide creative services, such as a custom wedding cake, for same-sex marriage ceremonies on the basis of one's religious beliefs.


We'll discuss this case and the greater issue of marriage and family with Mr. Joe Grabowski, Director of Communications at National Organization for Marriage.

Healthcare remains a topic of interest within our country.  While some are very happy with the Affordable Care Act, others believe it to be a step back in how we approach this challenge.  But all too often, the discussion seems to focus more on who is going to pay for coverage rather than the actual care itself and the processes on how we deliver it.  Join us for this discussion with Mr. John Médaille, noted author and distributist, and Dr. Matthew Loftus as we discuss approaching the healthcare challenge in different ways.  Specifically, we will discuss an article written by Mr. Medaille titled Distributism and the Healthcare System and a presentation given by Dr. Loftus to the ASP Chapter in Maryland titled "Creating a Just and Good Healthcare System." 


John Médaille is a businessman in Irving, Texas, and also an Instructor in Theology at the University of Dallas, where he teaches a unique course on the Social Encyclicals for Business Students. He is the author of The Vocation of Business: Social Justice in the Marketplace and Toward a Truly Free Market: A Distributist Perspective on the Role of Government, Taxes, Health Care, Deficits, and More (Culture of Enterprise).   He writes at The Imaginative Conservative and Front Porch Republic.

Kimberly Williamson has been a Virginia private investigator, working child welfare and custody cases, since 2011. Starting in 2015, she expanded her focus to include missing and exploited children.  By 2016, she had offered her professional services and resources, free of charge, to any non-profit or family seeking to locate a missing child. To date, she's participated in the successful recovery of more than 3 dozen missing child cases and another 8 missing endagered adults. 


Currently, she is focussing her free time on outreach and education about the risks and realities of domestic "profit exploitation" aka "modern slavery".  Her message is simple, "Not all slaves are missing persons, and not all pimps are strangers."
