Gen X New Waver

This Podcast is Fantastic!! I was a pre-teen, teen in the 1980s and this genre spoke to me from the get go. It is nice to have this history revisited. It brought back memories of heading to Tower Records on Sunset and briefly meeting these artists as they signed our CDs, Records.

Well done to the hosts. I rate this top stars. For the new generations of listeners: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, this is your music school right here for a great time in one of the most dynamic times that New Wave usher in. It defined not just the music, but how we looked in fashion, graphic arts, soundtracks to movies and the origin of visual output on Video One, Friday Night Videos and of course MTV.

Kid in a Candy-O Store

The format for this podcast covers every notable punk/post-punk/ new wave album released on a month by month basis from 76-86. Even if you disagree with the hosts Joseph and Rob on the virtues of any particular band its ultimately a moot point. I guarantee that anyone who listens with a somewhat open mind will find at least one new favorite band or album almost every few episodes! I worked in record stores and “knew my stuff” about this music I thought but happily will confess my ignorance in hindsight about certain bands early material, bands that fizzled quickly etc etc. Well worth the journey!

Old Favorites, New discoveries

Rob and Joseph do a great job of sharing and celebrating the musical journey of ‘76-86.
As the music of my teens and early 20s I was immediately on board but the pleasant surprise is discovering great bands that I missed the first time around.
Great format, great guests, great music!
I have just finished 1978 and beginning to dive into ‘79, keep it coming!
