As Founder of Louise M shoes I realised that I have been striving to empower women through shoes since I started in 2013. I have not used the word ‘empowerment’ until now but have always wanted women to put on a pair of Louise M shoes and be confident to go about their day achieving their goals and dreams. Louise M shoes take you places!

There is much discussion about ‘where did your business journey begin’ but I am intrigued to explore before the business journey started. Did these women feel confident as a child and has this helped them succeed in business and life, or have they had to ‘upskill’ so to speak as an adult to become confident and feel empowered?

Some of my guests did not receive any source of being valued, heard, confident as a child and, I believe, it has hindered them as an adult. Those that truly believed as a child that they are good enough and could achieve anything, I believe, had a head start in adulthood.

The reassuring thing is though that no matter how disempowered you feel as a child it is possible as an adult to become empowered.

Through this interview series we meet women from many sectors who have created their own successful business.

I ask what their definition of empowerment is, as I believe it is slightly different for each one of us. Together we delve into their childhood for feelings of empowerment and disempowerment, before discovering how they have been able to become more empowered in their adulthood, and how they help others feel empowered through their business.

I hope this series will help other women on their empowerment journey.
