If you’re looking for information about Judaism and/or Jews…
This guy isn’t an accurate source from which to get it. He is a Messianic ‘Jew’-ish pastor; not a Jewish seminary-trained, synagogue-leading rabbi. Messianic ‘Judaism’ is recognized by most Christian (from Evangelical to mainline Protestant to Catholic) denominations, all religious Jewish denominations, and the State of Israel as a thoroughly Christian sect of, well… Christianity. The sect’s goal is largely to get Jews (ie, practicing or non-practicing, though non-Christian, ones) to convert to Christianity, albeit wrapped in tefillin and wearing a kippah. Messianic theology and ideology are both grounded firmly in conservative (if not outright right-wing) evangelical Christianity; the founder of the movement was a Baptist minister. Messianics may or may not be ethnically Jewish, but they’ve ceased being religious Jews by accepting Jesus of Nazareth to be the Jewish messiah. More often than not, Messianic preachers and theologians also hold a supersessionist view of religious Judaism—meaning they believe the Jewish faith has been superseded (or nullified) by Jesus of Nazareth’s (or really St. Paul’s) “new covenant.” Essentially, Messianic ‘Judaism’s’ outwardly Jewish practices are added on to its inwardly evangelical Christian theology for funzies. Messianic ‘Judaism’ does not accept the Oral Torah, Rabbinic Judaism’s compendium of teaching, theology, and law, known as the Talmud as authoritative scripture; instead, Messianics hold the view that the Christian Bible is the word of God. In sum, if you’re interested in Judaism, email your local Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, or Orthodox rebbe… not guys like the host of this show.
