Dr. Jean Clinton The Herle Burly

    • Politics

The Herle Burly was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as CN Rail.

Alright, today on the show, a fantastic guest and a timely conversation with Dr. Jean Clinton. Dr. Clinton was a close adviser to Kathleen Wynne’s government on reforms to publicly funded education in Ontario. She’s a clinical professor of psychiatry and behavioural neurosciences at McMaster and a specialist in child psychiatry. Her area of expertise is in the development of young minds, with a special interest in brain development, and the crucial role relationships and connectedness play in that.

So, given that we’re recording this episode just a few days before in-person classes resume in Ontario, we’re going to talk about these last 2 years of restrictions, school closures and online learning and what it’s all done to kids.

What signs should parents look for that children are struggling? How do they make it better? What does a return to physical school look, and feel, like? And what makes for a better public education system, post-pandemic?
