MY TESTIMONY







Dr. Jim Whitmire, Minister of Music at Crossroads, shares that he trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at 15 while teaching in a Vacation Bible School. At that same time, he surrendered his life to full-time Christian service. He earned a BA in Music from Stetson University, Deland, Florida, where he met and married Linda Dooley of Rockledge, Florida. He later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.



Dr. Whitmire served as Minister of Music at churches, including First Baptist Church in Winter Park, Florida, the First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, Florida, and Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, with Dr. Rogers. In Florida and Tennessee, he worked a total of 38 years with Dr. Rogers as his pastor. After retirement in 2005, he served at First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, Tennessee, and First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, with Dr. Mac Brunson as Pastor. Dr. Whitmire returned to Memphis in 2915 and joined the faculty of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and currently serves as Minister of Music at Crossroads.



Jim and Linda have six children (three boys – Wade, Joshua, and Luke, and three girls – Kelly, Wendy, and Shannon), as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
