Episode 2 of the Cowboy Corridor picks up in Elko at J.M. Capriola Co., one of the American West’s most legendary custom saddle and leather goods shops. The legacy of the man who started it is very much alive here, and next door, at the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum. From here, we head west to Winnemucca to connect with the founder of the Buckaroo Hall of Fame to learn about the place that commemorates the men who ran cattle in Nevada’s Great Basin for centuries. Striking up a conversation over Picon’s at The Martin Hotel leads us to the Winnemucca Basque Club’s dance rehearsal, and a historical nightcap of Basque families who have sheep herded, been part of the Winnemucca basque boarding houses, and moved the Nevada story forward for decades.
