Ep. 5: Creating Passion and Purpose by Giving Back with Andrew Lewis Touching Greatness with Allan Jay Santos

On May 10th, 2012, Andrew Lewis created history by becoming the first sailor from Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the Olympics. 

Andrew recovered from a near-death experience to make a come-back in time for the Rio 2016 Olympics. He’s also competed in the 2020 summer olympics as well as the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games.

He’s been a finalist and medalist at many of the biggest world competitions and is recognized as amongst the best Laser Class sailors in the world.

Andrew is a firm believer in giving back to the community, especially the dyslexia community which he knows the challenges of first hand having been diagnosed with dyslexia and add at an early age.

Through the Andrew Lewis Sailing Foundation, he teaches young students sailing and guides them in facing life's challenges. The foundation's main focus is education, sport, and overall community building.

He is a role model for Trinidad and Tobago's young people and the wider world of sailing.

In 2021, Andrew retired as an athlete after accepting an invitation to become the National Coach for the Canadian Olympic Sailing

Andrew's ultimate goal is to master himself so he can see his fullest potential for the remainder of his time on Earth.

He's a focused, driven, and determined individual, Andrew embodies all the traits of a young professional athlete, true sportsman and overall humanitarian.
