A common phrase that gets thrown out there to help people feel better is, "Sticks and stones my break my bones, but words may never hurt me." Having been on the receiving end of it, I can assure you that it is not effective. While well-intentioned, it falls short of being supportive. In this episode, I share a speech I gave on that very phrase.
