Episode 45: Morgan Wider Conscious Anti-Racism
-
- Society & Culture
What is ‘image bias’ and how does it affect professional spaces? What defines whether something is ‘appropriate’? Why does the professional space have a racially biased dress code?
In this series on healthcare and social disparities, Dr. Jill Wener, a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist, meditation expert, and tapping practitioner, interviews experts in multiple fields relating to social justice and anti-racism. In this episode, Jill interviews Morgan Wider, a speaker, author, and wardrobe stylist. Morgan gives an overview of the greater cultural context of style in the professional space and how bias affects the way Black people are perceived at work. They discuss Image Bias, The Crown Act, and how giving people permission to be themselves sets examples for generations to come. Listen as Morgan explains the two questions to ask yourself when trying to decide how you want to present yourself externally at work.
With a decade of leadership experience at major retail giants, Morgan A. Wider has turned her love of clothes and hard-earned life lessons into a wardrobe-styling consulting firm. When she’s not transforming lives through closet revamps and shopping trips, she’s facilitating insightful and inspiring Executive Style workshops around the country.
