Episode 65 – Reminiscing With 80’s Hunk & “Family Ties” Star Scott Valentine - Part 1 Hollywood Obsessed

    • TV & Film

On this episode of Hollywood Obsessed, host Tony Miros
speaks with actor Scott Valentine who is best known for playing the role of Nick Moore on the classic 1980s TV sitcom “Family Ties”.

During his fascinating conversation with Tony, Scott
talks all about moving to NYC in his 20s to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, how just as his career was about to take off he accidentally got hit by a truck, then after 2 years recovering from his injuries he moved to LA to resume his acting career, how ten months later he made his debut on the hit TV series “Family Ties” -- as Mallory Keaton’s delightfully oddball boyfriend Nick Moore – instantly becoming a household name, and how different Hollywood is now than when he first started his career 40 years ago.

SCOTT VALENTINE

Based in New York, Valentine has over 25 years of experience in the field of financial structuring and business consulting for various industries as well as 40 years plus in the entertainment industry. After a successful career in the entertainment industry as an actor, he segued into the business side of the entertainment industry and started producing in 1995. He has an extensive history in the development, production and distribution of film, television and streaming content. As a producer, executive producer and owner of his own production company, Valentine held development/production deals at major networks and major production studios.

Valentine left the entertainment industry in 2004 and moved into investment banking both as an equity investor and independent investment banker. He originally worked on developing and funding renewable/sustainable energy facilities as well as the delivery of power. Valentine has been a managing member of Excelsior Capital Partners since 2005. With a focus on the renewable energy sector to date, Excelsior Capital Partners has been responsible for structuring financing in the power delivery sector, real estate development markets, new technologies, food industry, senior assisted living as well as others.

Valentine was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York. He attended college at SUNY Adirondack and Skidmore College. Valentine moved to New York City in 1979 where he attended and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After surviving a near fatal accident in 1981, Valentine moved to Los Angeles in 1984 where the stigmatisms associated with the accident didn’t burden his career.

Within his first year in Los Angeles, Valentine turned a one-week guest role on the hit sitcom “Family Ties” into a four year stint. He acted in over 75 films and television shows as well as Broadway and off-Broadway theater productions.

Valentine has expanded his business horizons where he is part owner in not only Red Coral Universe/Red Coral Finance/Red Coral Production, but also in a food manufacturing and processing company, a power transmission company, a truck finance company and an investment banking firm.

He is the proud father of four handsome young men, who all have their own burgeoning careers in varying industries.
