Personal freedom versus inner freedom

I used to be depressed and then one day I did something thst permanently changed my outlook and I feel inner peace. So I’m a huge proponent of not being a round peg in a square hole when we can simply change the environment and be round pegs in round holes. I believe in self reliance. Steeped in the enneagram where we are told to work ourselves into our virtues, your lecture 45 “don’t try to change” is making me balk. But I have come to a point recently where I notice I may be trying too hard to change the last vestige of disgruntlement within myself thst I hate so I’ve
Been trying to change it, and I see I am driving myself crazy. I’ve told myself stop; practice self acceptance; and I know about acceptance too, the practice of accepting what is (your cat dying and accepting it because resisting it is just going to make things worse). But then I think you may be saying to rely on self more than anything outside ourselves because you can’t change what happens out there, you can only change yourself. Sitting uneasy tonight between accepting what we cannot change and changing the things we can. Are they still windsurfing in hood River?

The best spiritual teacher I’ve found

Adi is a wonderful spiritual teacher. Humble, wise and sincere, I always leave his classes or podcasts feeling refreshed, with a purer view of the world and the situations in my life. Adi’s words and ideas allow me to see more fully the love that surrounds and connects us. I’m so glad he shares these teachings with us- they have been a real gift to me.
