Cultivating Joy | Easter 4

Joy is not just thinking happy thoughts. Joy is deeper than happiness (which is simply psychological), and greater than pleasure (which is merely physical). Joy is something that encompasses body and mind and soul. Joy is something that needs to be cultivated, or worked.
Like the ground during spring planting, it must be worked and tilled, if you want to eat the fruit. It takes “a little while.” -

Jesus forgives their sin, giving them the holy spirit, the breath (spirit) of God as healing for their psychological (spiritual) fears.
