Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

Accidental post-apocalypse/Fallout season with Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. But first, Alex has a random newsblast? Join us as we take our usual detour into mourning the death of practical effects, ponder if this film invented the post apocalypse, and generally just enjoy a well-made film. We watch them occasionally.
(When Sam keeps saying 'The man with no name' he means A Fistful of Dollars, obvs.)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

This week, we continue the modern Planet of the Apes franchise seven years (!) after watching the first instalment. Join us as we marvel at the CG, complain about everything else, get into a very, very long discussion about post-apocalyptic survival (yet again) and we learn that Chris is prepared to play any game, no matter the game. Game on.
Note for Sam's brain: You are confusing Jason Clarke with Jai Courtney because they are both charisma vacuums and were both in Terminator: Genisys!
Next week, it's another rebooted franchise, JJ Abrams' ode to the lens flare, it's Star Trek!

The go to podcast on SciFi.

I will stop whatever I’m doing and listen to this podcast once I’ve noticed a new episode has dropped. (Sorry honey). Great all round info on SciFi, from the classics to the unwatchable these three guys rarely get it wrong. (Except Lawnmower Man, it’s misunderstood and should be in top 10). Keep up the good work.

Snarky Hosts That Seem to Actually Hate the Genre and are Just Sick, Twisted Individuals

After listening to fifteen episodes of the podcast, I definitively can say I truly do not believe these hosts enjoy science fiction in the least. Every episode I've listened to has them making stupid, snarky comments that belittles the material and genre as a whole. I get that not every movie is your cup of tea, but there wasn't even ONE. SINGLE. MOVIE. that I listened to them discuss where they even came close to remotely enjoying it or saying it was even a decent film.

The last episode I listened to was their discussion on "Jurassic Park III." I couldn't even get through that one because, about halfway through, when one of the hosts said one of the secondary casts members died of AIDS a number of years later, they all laughed. Sick and disgusting.

Stay away from this one. They don't actually like the material and find it funny when people die in a horrible way. Keep away from this drek.

Very entertaining

I love science fiction films and listening to these three fellas argue about them (and sometimes agree) is funny. When Sam hates something, he’s prone to say “it’s trash” or “it’s rubbish” and no one should mention Ready Player One to him. Still he’s the most balanced when it comes to reviews. Alex is the optimist and is the most forgiving of the three and can definitely hang with kind of campy films sometimes and passionately defended Enders Game 🤣. Chris likes procedurals, hates anime, and refuses to concede that Independence Day is a rah-rah film that’s MEH. Still, I do love when Chris weighs in and takes the steam out of Alex and Sam, since his opinion often gets the short end of the stick.

The system really works though overall! People’s personal favourites don’t get to go right up the top so these guys really balance each other out. Compromise is hard, and they are masters of it!
