    Don't Look Now

    Don't Look Now

Sometimes you watch one of those movies where a bunch of disparate things fall into place and you realize some of your favorite directors definitely watched this movie and lost their minds about it. Don’t Look Now is definitely one such movie! We enjoy the foggy streets of Venice, Donald Sutherland’s cartoonish frown, psychic abilities and their pitfalls, and the strange dream logic of grief.

    Deep Cover

    Deep Cover

We head to the world of mood lighting, stupid cops, and the poetry of a life of crime as we all enjoy the rhythms and aesthetics of Deep Cover! This one’s a pretty silly movie, but I mean that in the kindest way possible. Truly the early 90s could just get away with a corny earnestness in genre work that is sorely missed.

    Rome, Open City

    Rome, Open City

One of the stone cold classics of cinema this week as we all watch our first Rossellini movie together and come away deeply impressed. Sometimes a movie is just a classic for a reason!

    Sullivan's Travels

This episode might be two weeks late, but that’s just because we were exploring the Real America to learn how the 99% lives. But we’re back with a bunch of movies and one of the classic comedies of the 1940s!

It’s the big 100! We’ve watched 100 (+2) movies on this second edition of our movie show, somehow, and we picked a banger to celebrate the milestone.

Movies! Now More Than Ever!

This is the secret best podcast on the Abnormal Mapping network. Expand your cinematic horizons, revisit and re-evaluate classics, maybe even discover a new favorite! This show is perfect for all walks of movie-enjoyer. Em, Jackson, and Destiny each bring a welcome and refreshing perspective to the conversation. The hosts go out of their way to choose movies out of the “canon” comfort zone, so following along with the show has led me to seeing some exciting films that that I’d never heard of before and likely wouldn’t have otherwise! Since avoiding theatres during covid I’ve really missed going to Da Movies, but this pod brings the rowdy (and thoughtful!) post-movie dinner discussion with friends safely to me. Two thumbs up!
