Senior citizens are among those experiencing what the U.S. Surgeon General calls a public health crisis in social isolation. A volunteer group in the Adirondacks is working to keep elders socially engaged one meet-up at a time. Also: The St. Lawrence Seaway officially opened its new visitors center overlooking one of the locks in Massena in a special ceremony today.

All the flowers and hanging baskets people will be buying this Mother's Day weekend took months to grow and nurture. Inside a flower and plant wholesale farm in St. Lawrence County. Also: A lawsuit by former Governor Andrew Cuomo could effectively gut New York's ethics enforcement agency.

From little league to adult softball to professional games, the North Country has baseball and softball games all spring and summer long. A new exhibit at the Chapman Museum celebrates the history and culture of America's pastime in Glens Falls.

5/7/24: Watertown, a city with no homeless shelter
In Watertown, hundreds of people in the city don't have a stable place to live, and there's no permanent homeless shelter. A group of advocates recently held a week-long demonstration to raise awareness about homelessness in the city. Also: Gov. Hochul is apologizing for an off-the-cuff remark she made, saying that in the Bronx "some Black kids don't know what a computer is."

5/6/24: A controversial solar project in Canton
A controversial large solar project in Canton is raising questions about local decision-making power versus the need to find more sources of carbon-free energy. A public comment session about the Rich Road solar project is Tuesday night. Also: Environmental advocates say New York needs to cut plastic packaging in half to help save the planet.
