#48 - Exodus by Bob Marley and The Wailers (With Our Special Guest, Bram Wooley!)

#48 - Exodus by Bob Marley and The Wailers (With Our Special Guest, Bram Wooley!)

At the end of 2023, Rolling Stone published some small adjustments to the 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums. Among those changes was a decision to drop Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers, and replace it by moving up their album Exodus, an album that had previously been in the #71 spot.

Given that unique change, we thought we would re-share our original review with Bram Wooley, for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

    -----------------------

It is always comforting to revisit an artist we have reviewed before, and this time we also had the pleasure of inviting back the same guest who joined us last time we reviewed Bob Marley and The Wailers. You may remember when Bram joined us for our review of Legend.  This time, Bram helps us unpack this iconic album and all the amazing hits it contains!

Excellent!

Just Two Friends (and their guests) discussing and reviewing the Rolling Stone Top 500 albums of all time. I really like the thought provoking discussions that come from digging up the details and context of the albums and comparing that message to today!

great duo

As a person in my sixties I could never see what was so great about Bob Dylan. Geez it took me a few minutes just to remember his name. I think Rubber Soul and Revolver where my favorite albums of the time because they stepped out of the teeniebopper sound. Electric keyboards were a new thing and they widened the aural plane. Edit. I went back and listened to highway 61 while reading the lyrics. It made more sense when I knew what he was singing. A weakness of mine has always been putting the musicality first and adding the words later. Bob writes great lyrics. My only problem is this is one podcast that won't download to my device. Always get an error message.
