    Florence, MS

Haunted houses are usually old, shrouded in mystery, plagued by tragedy. But what happens when you start experiencing the supernatural in your brand new dream home? The home you designed and built from the foundations? Could that possibly be a haunting? What else could be causing the activity?

Those are exactly the questions that filmmakers Steve Gonsalves and Kendall Whelpton were hoping to answer in their documentary The House Between. Alice Jackson built her dream home in Florence, Mississippi. She hasn’t been able to spend a night there alone for the past ten years. This week, Alli and Becky discuss the haunting behind the documentary The House Between. SPOILER ALERT! Rent the movie and support the filmmakers first, then come back to this episode and hear what we have to say!

Happy Halloween, Y’all! We hope you enjoy the Season 2 finale. Remember… Florence, MS is Obviously Haunted!

The Bloody History of the LaLaurie Mansion

TRIGGER WARNING: This story contains the torture of enslaved people. If you feel like it may be too emotional, please skip this one.

On the corner of Royal Street, in 1834, a mansion is going up in flames. When volunteers show up to fight the fire, they ask about the enslaved people inside. Delphine LaLaurie blows them off, urging them to save her belongings. They ignore her and search the house for survivors. The scene they found would haunt the city of New Orleans for more than a hundred years.

The LaLaurie Mansion has long been considered the most haunted building in New Orleans. The beautiful facade hides its horrific past and the frightening activity that plagues anyone who dares dwell there. This week, Alli and I discuss one of the vilest women in history, the serial killer Delphine LaLaurie.

    Tombstone, AZ

    Tombstone, AZ

Is there a better time and place for a haunting than the wild, wild west? This week, Becky regales her nephew with stories of sheriffs and cattle rustlers in the lawless deserts of Southern Arizona. It’s a family-friendly episode! (Sort of… hauntings happen for a reason, so use your best judgment if listening with kiddos.)

Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday are celebrated anti-heroes, but do their ghosts still wander the O.K. Corral? Tombstone, Arizona had more than its fair share of tragedy in its time. According to locals and tourists alike, some of that history may manifest as apparitions from time to time.

Whatever your opinions about the town’s history, it’s safe to say that Tombstone, AZ is Obviously Haunted.
