The Matanza, loosely meaning The Killing, was a period when violence along the Texas border resulted in the killing of many Mexican and Mexican American residents in South Texas, many at the hands of the Texas Rangers, the military and otehr law enforcement agencies.

Today, we talk with Chris Tomlinson, one of the authors of "Forget the Alamo: The Rise and Fall of an American Myth." We talk about the real story of what led up to the battle, the 45-minute battle and the aftermath, which really impacts even today.

We interview Doug J. Swanson. He is the author of "Cult of Glory: The Bold and Brutal History of The Texas Rangers." This is a great book that tells you more of the real story beyond the myth of what most people have been taught about the Texas Rangers.
