With an extensive background in Live Entertainment and Guest Experiences, Darren’s credits have included successful partnerships with Royal Caribbean International, Universal Studios, Silver Sea Luxury Cruises , Legoland, Motiongate Pictures, Dreamworks, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Bourne Leisure the leading holiday resorts provider in the UK and most recently as an award winning Entertainment Director for Carnival Cruise Line Corporation.

Darren began his career in the entertainment industry over 20 years ago. He has worked as a professional Singer/Dancer performing all over the world working for some of the largest entertainment providers in the industry before transitioning to focusing on developing and managing entertainment operations and experiences as well as advising clients and executives enhancing and delivering robust business strategies driving operational excellence.

Darren specializes in entertainment operations with an emphasis on guest experience. His background is full of directing credits and maximizing growth with a proven track record in increasing NPS and revenue for stakeholders and driving positive change and standardizing operating procedures for clients.

During his time with Carnival Cruise Line, Darren received recognition and awards for Entertainment Director of the year for both Casting and Booking and Music throughout the entire fleet. He is known for his attention to detail and creating new engaging experiences with a strong background working with Performers, Musicians, Youth Teams and Entertainment Technical professionals from around the world.

Beginning her career studying textile and design for the fashion industry, Wendy quickly after studies began her career working for ne of the most iconic Theme parks and brands in the world ‘Disney’. Wendy has gone on to be a successful manager running large costume departments and opening many new theme parks such as ‘Universal Studios’ and ‘Warner Brothers’ spanning all over the globe including the United States, Asia and The Middle East to highlight a few.

Utilising her creative and imagination skills Wendy has worked and collaborated working on various costumes designs and ideas all around the world working with different cultures.

This week DPDS connects with Professional Dancer - Katie Matthews

Industry Insights connects with New Zealand born Katie Matthews. Katie talks about her career thus far and her early days of training to become a professional Ballerina before travelling and working in America.

Katie began her career dancing for the ‘Royal New Zealand Ballet after studying at the International Ballet Academy in New Zealand.

Having early success in her career Katie went on to star in the popular dance show ’So You Think You Can Dance’ where Katie was a top 10 finalist. Katie went on to have a successful career working for Carnival Cruise Line for over a decade where she workshopped and was part of the inaugural casts fro multiple shows.

Katie is currently finding success in Las Vegas where she recently moved with her husband and has enjoyed success as a Dancer in shows lie ‘X Rocks’ and ‘Zombie Burlesque’. Katie also recently opened for ‘Metallica’ in Vegas.

A real glimpse into life as a Ballerina before conquering the rest of the dance world.

This week DPDS connects with Singer/Songwriter/Actor and Indie Artist- Jerica Exum
Industry Insights connects with Jerica in a great interview filled with all of Jerica’s stories and experiences from her career thus far. Introduced to music through church, Jerica’s love for the arts continued and she found theatre in high school before launching onto the audition circuit before landing her first roles.
Jerica has performed all over the world and for some of the most prestigious providers of entertainment. Credits have included performing in Disney’s ’The Lion King’, Universal Studios, Various Cruise Lines, and a highly acclaimed catalogue of musical theatre credits.
Jerica gives some really helpful insights into self taping auditions throughout this pandemic and how to look after your instrument and body whilst working a professional gig. Jerica has experience singing in live bands, choirs, production shows and musical theatre and proves she is a well rounded singer who can perform many genres.
Her story this far is a fantastic one and Industry Insights is excited to see what Jerica will conquer next.

Industry Insights connects with Judith in a really personal insight into Judith’s journey from studying musical theatre to then treding the West end audition boards to becoming a successful Singer and Dancer to becoming a successful Entertainment Director for a leading cruise line where she overseas the entertainment operations and guest experiences for over 4000 guests per week. 

Judith mentors and develops a large team of Performers, Musicians, Youth Teams, Entertainment Technical personal and all things media content related. Born and raised in Ireland Judith began her love of performing where she attended a drama and dance course in Cork which catapulted her into a successful career as a performer where she completed her training in Musical Theatre at Bodywork in Cambridge. 

Judith shares her stories and experiences and offers so many wise words. Her recent work with 'The Shona Project’ allowed us to experience Judith’s other passion of writing and story telling celebrating teenage girls and women from all over the world to help succeed, overcome, lead, think, win and learn. A beautiful conversation between two friends and colleagues and to top it off Judith has an accent you could listen to for hours!
