A voice even sexier than Morgan Freeman's

This is one of my favorite podcasts. I just learned of it six months ago, while listening to a different podcast (to which I was also late to the party), and hit an episode where Levar Burton was a guest, promoting the first season of LBR. LBR actually supplanted that podcast as my go-to one whenever I get in the car to drive somewhere (and that other one is a Star Trek podcast!). I grew up watching Burton on TNG, but at this point the Star Trek connection is beside the point.

Mr. Burton's reading is magnificent to listen to, and his eclectic choices of short fiction are putting me on to all sorts of cool authors whom I never knew about. I recently gave my wife for her birthday a whole bunch of short story collections for her kindle, all of it inspired by hearing one of those stories read aloud on this podcast. And as my review title indicates, the utterly intoxicating nature of Levar Burton's voice makes the whole thing that much more fun.

Story suggestion for a future episode: "Ike and Nina," by T. Coraghessan Boyle. A whimsical imagining that, during the Camp David summit with Khrushchev, President Eisenhower was having a passionate affair with the Soviet Premier's wife, Nina Krushchev.

Season LeVar... I mean it’s right there!

When he said Season V, you can use whatever V word you want to associate with it” I wanted to scream when he didn’t say his own name. I can’t imagine he’s never thought or used that, but now that I consider it he’s probably heard “V as in LeVar” enough times to stop explaining how his name starts with an L and just smiles and nods.

My current favorite Podcast. I’ve been listening for a couple days now, and I’m so happy I found this podcast. Your enthusiasm about the stories you read is genuinely the best part. I’d like to suggest “Mallam Sile” by Mohammed Naseehu Ali
