Knowing: in the biblical sense Season 2 Episode 1

Knowing: in the biblical sense Season 2 Episode 1

In this episode I discuss with Rev. Dr. Debra Haffner, sexologist and ordained minister, based on her research what position the Bible takes, if any, on the human sexual experience of intimacy and identity.

Her findings may be surprising to some.

*Content Notice* If you are an individual who may be sensitive, in regards to a discussion about human sexuality and how it relates to the Bible and our lived experience, OR if you have children around at the moment and you may not want them listening in on this discussion for whatever reason. I want to be transparent and afford you an opportunity to determine for yourself if you are in a area or location where you feel it is appropriate to participate with us in this discussion, or if you need to make plans for a time and or location that would be more comfortable for you.

This episode does NOT have any profanity, nor is there any imagery or references to: violence, abuse, drugs, alcohol, or explicit sexual behavior. The content does NOT violate any community standards or policies and would not require an age restriction on the platform. However, I would like to be transparent and for people to be aware that we are having a conversation about what the Bible may or may not say about human sexuality, sexual identity and orientation. We also discuss sex education programs and the various policies that surround them as they relate to religious institutions along with the academic research Dr. Haffner has conducted as a professional in this field.

The Bible: Good News! It's Allegory Episode 7

In our Season 1 closer we talk about, you guessed it, The Big Book itself. We discuss different ways people approach the Bible, both the Hebrew and the Christian Bibles (its a two in one kinda book....well, 66-100 books but you get my point). Also, we talk about some different perceptions people have about the Bible, history, translations, problems with interpretation, the problem of: Biblical Illiteracy, poor scholarship and how these things affect the church and often cause harm, and so much more...

    Perfection: Mistakes Included Episode 5

    Perfection: Mistakes Included Episode 5

Perfection: Mistakes Included, begins with a question. Did the historical person, Jesus ben Joseph of Nazareth actually exist and if so, What kind of evidence is there and how reliable is it? Can we look for the person of Jesus without the trappings of divinity? You may be wondering about the title of this conversation if we are looking for a historical person. How does Perfection include mistakes? Is it actually perfect if there are mistakes? Who's perfection are we talking about? For those who are struggling with their faith or in the process of deconstructing the toxic religious systems they grew up with, is there a way to understand Easter without the need for death and atonement? These are all questions we look at in this conversation. Listen and find out if it's possible for mistakes to be included the idea of "Perfection".

Ennairdah ,

This is not the Catholic Father Mike

Was kinda confused because he is also Father Mike. Also Christian. Just not the Catholic Father Mike Schmitz.
Once I realized this, his podcast made sense.
FYI there are several Christian Father Mikes.

Dannyny1978 ,

Father Mike cantor is independent Catholic Church

I do not fully agree, but he explain his theory and he make time for you. He is a good man and a interesting priest. But, I do not agree with some of his views. However he make you think. We need more of that. he seems to think you can pick and choose your Catholicism, and I do not agree with that at all. somethings are right and wrong and you can’t change them for modern times. Do I think the government has the right to tell a woman what to do with her body? No tomorrow choice, but abortion is murder… Done for a medical reason only.

Informative and inspiring

Thank you for providing a smart and thoughtful look at scripture. I feel both uplifted and challenged. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking encouragement, guidance, and a fresh look at biblical principles. Keep them coming!
