Two Average Joes: A True Survivor Story

Two Average Joes: A True Survivor Story

How unique and yet terrifying would it be to hear first hand what it’s like to be abducted? How scared would you be to find yourself in a car and then finding out you're alone with a convicted rapist and a convicted killer. What would you say? What would you feel? Would you be quick and begin to figure out a way to escape?  Would the paralyzing fear consume you to the point of being numb?
Two Average Joe’s has taken a unique opportunity to hear first hand the account from a true survivor. A woman that defied all odds, with her bravery, shear nerve and her will to survive.

Let’s go back to 1961, when a man from Niles, Michigan was convicted of raping a blind girl and robbing her boyfriend.  This same man would walk out of prison on December 1967 on parole but free to roam Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas of southern Michigan. Yes, that’s right that was also during the same time as the Co-Ed murders of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. He later raped and killed a beautiful woman from Owosso Michigan in 1973, a mother and a wife. Then a year later, he ran into this woman.  A true survivor, a fighter.

Two Average Joe’s brings you her story, in her own words, her fear but also her triumph.

TAJs will be bringing you more episodes on the alleged suspect in this case and convicted murderer and rapist, Gerald Wingeart in the near future.

Two Average Joes with Kevin King - What Happens When the Prison System Lies???
In our latest installment on Prison Reform, Kevin King tells of his 12-year ordeal in regard to his situation in the Michigan Department of Corrections.  Would government officials try to set up an inmate just because the internee was trying to protect other prisoner’s constitutional rights?  How far will an institute go to stop one man’s desire to protect his fellow inmates?  Can a person even fight those odds?

Kevin King did.  Listen to the story as Kevin details how prison officials fabricated his prison records and attempted to set him up for failure.  Kevin had to maneuver through a web of deceit and lies to protect his rights.  What happened at the end?  King won.

With the help of the Baker Law Firm, Kevin prevailed.  With the assistance of Attorney Robert Baker and Paralegal Kristle Goins, Kevin’s wife Cheryl King and Attorney Gregory Longworth, he was able to win his case and collect damages in his 1983 civil case.  The case, King vs. Zamiara can be viewed below:

2AJs Presents: True Crime Incorporated - Episode 2: Why is it so Hard to Correct Myth?

Why is it so hard to correct myth? In spite of facts, crimes can be committed and no one will be charged or held accountable.
In the case of Dawn Basom, who was murdered over 50 years ago, her case has never been solved. No one has ever been arrested and no one has ever been sent to jail. However, if you goggle her name, you would quickly see that she is considered to be one of victims of the 1960’s coed- murder, John Norman Collins.
Do we really know that? Is that true or do we just think that because she has always been listed as one of his murder victims.  That is the question TCI is asking.
We ask that and why is it so hard to correct myth??

True Crime Incorporated: What is Truth?

True Crime Incorporated, Joseph St. John, Dean Teaster and Deneen Azzolino discuss how difficult it can be to gather truth in the modern age.  What passes for research is often just people cutting and pasting information from a few articles and calling it truth.  Is real research dead??  What does it take to collect actual information?  Can it be done?  Take a listen.
