How Ski Slopes to Swing Dances Become Fresh Expressions of Church with Marcus Corey and Mitch Marcello

How Ski Slopes to Swing Dances Become Fresh Expressions of Church with Marcus Corey and Mitch Marcello

Many traditional Christians build their weekends around Church attendance, many others are spending their weekends "playing." Hobbies, sports, and other activities provide much more than a thrill or a distraction: they are places where people feel more alive, more embodied, and often build their most profound community. Rather than try to pull people away from their passions, how can church leaders embrace people where they are having fun?

Marcus Corey has spent over a decade leading a church that meets on a ski mountain. Mitch Marcello has pioneered Fresh Expressions in various "fun" settings, like social dancing groups and rugby leagues.

In this podcast, you'll hear real stories of God at work and building Christian community in places dedicated to having fun.

Mission is the Shape of Water with Michael Frost

Mission is the Shape of Water with Michael Frost

Friend and missional mentor Michael Frost returns to the Fresh Expressions podcast to discuss his book Mission Is the Shape of Water: Learning From the Past to Inform Our Role in the World Today.

Does mission look the same across all times and places? Michael Frost says no in his latest book! He dives into Christian mission through the centuries, examining how context sculpts mission uniquely in each era.

We'll explore the shaping forces of history, culture, and postmodernism on the Church's mission and hear stories of innovative, situation-specific efforts from across the centuries.  Examining mission in light of history is critical for discerning mission now. This conversation will lead you to follow God into a uniquely "shape" mission for your context.

Timely Guidance for Church Leaders

Things have changed and we have to do church differently. You need guides who can help you understand the new terrain. You need real examples from people who have discovered new ways to live out the gospel together.

This podcast is chockfull of big ideas, real-life stories and timely advice for pastors and church leaders.

*Full disclosure, I'm a part of the FX team. But I'm also a listener to the podcast, and I've gotten a lot out of it!

Great Content!

The content of this podcast is wonderful for anyone wondering what is happening in modern Wesleyan ministry today. One niggle is the audio is inconsistent. Pastor Heather’s audio is often way too hot where Gannon’s is normal. Fix that and you’ll go from good to great!

Encouraging and Actionable

Pioneering a fresh expression, or trying to cultivate a vision for a new kind of church can be an exhausting and lonely endeavor. This podcast is a breath of fresh air for people doing just that. The stories and the insight shared are encouraging and actionable. I’m a dinner church pastor. The recent episode with Verlon and Isaac was so encouraging to me and I came away with practical ideas to implement in my own context. I appreciate all the work that goes into this podcast. Full disclosure - I'm a member of the Fresh Expressions team. Though I don’t work on this podcast, I know some of the people that do and I know they put such thought in care into creating valuable conversations and learning moments for everyone listening.
