I’m Jay O’Day and I live in Utah, one of the most religious states, in one of the most religious countries (the U.S.) in the world, but, like anywhere, our community is changing. This is “Is anything Sacred Anymore?”, the show where I talk to this diversifying group of people around me about the things that are most important to them and ask them how they navigate their communities while holding those things in their hearts.

Miranda is one of my students in the InterFaith Student Council at Utah Valley University and I had a lot of fun interviewing her for this episode. She is so lively and curious and honest off-mic that I knew I wanted to ask her these questions and share her responses with listeners. I walked away from this interview wondering how I can navigate transitional periods in my life with the same honesty and self-awareness that she does.

Mikinon and I worked together for a few years at a university library. She is easily one of the warmest and most approachable people I have ever met. She is also an “active” and believing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her individualized relationship to her church is one of the things that made me want to do this podcast.

Thought-Provoking and Interesting
I really enjoy Jay’s questions and his guests’ answers. We’re so used to discussing religion on the community/group level and from a leadership or instructive perspective. It’s a nice change of pace to hear faith matters spoken of as an individual human experience.
