This course introduces students to the Filipina and Filipino contemporary experience in the United States. I will draw primarily on topics I have focused on as a researcher, scholar and activist. It is the experience of Filipinos and Filipinas as low-wage, racialized and gendered workers that will be a key focus in this course. I also incorporate recent research on the identities, experiences and cultural practices of the Filipino American second generation.
