Every hockey fan knows the name Hobey Baker (collegiate hockey’s most prestigious trophy is named after him), but very few know the real story of this all-time great athlete. ESPN 30 for 30’s new podcast, Searching for Hobey Baker, tells the story of America’s first ice hockey star, Hobey Baker, one of the first nine inductees – and the only American – inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Narrated by actor David Duchovny, a Princeton grad like Hobey, the podcast charts Hobey’s glory days as the best collegiate hockey and football player in the nation and his exploits as a WWI fighter pilot. Beyond Hobey’s adventures on the ice and in the air, the podcast examines the hockey legend’s lesser-known struggles as a gay man in the early 20th century.

The new unscripted series Family Empire: Houston follows four generations of the Braden family as they build a real estate legacy in the booming metro housing market of Houston. The family matriarch, grandmother Oscarene, was a real estate entrepreneur who built the family empire from the ground up. Now her three grandchildren, Nicole, Jermeshia and JaQuita have a dream to follow in her footsteps, as the co-founders of the Braden Real Estate Group, the largest independently Black brokerage in Houston. The Braden cousins are dream home finders with a pulse on the Houston real estate market and their core mission is to empower communities and secure wealth for generations to come, further establishing the family’s legacy in Houston. Despite the family’s tight bonds, complications arise as their personal agendas put them at odds, placing the family legacy in question. ESPN’s new 30 for 30 documentary, False Positive, profiles the story of one of the greatest track athletes in U.S. history, Olympic Gold Medalist Butch Reynolds, Mr. Reynolds was a prolific Ohio State track star, who may have been the fastest man in the world, having set the world record for the 400-meter dash in 43.29 seconds (smashing the 20-year-old record of 57 seconds.) But his legendary career was derailed by a faulty drug test in one of the greatest injustices in American sports history.  False Positive tells Butch’s story from his rise to global fame, to his subsequent suspension by the IAAF, and his relentless battle to clear his name.
