The podcast will touch upon many subjects related to aging, senior life, church life, scripture and God’s plan for us. Most podcasts will involve discussion between Hal and Randy, sometimes including interviews with each other or with other guests. It is Hal and Randy’s fervent desire that by sharing and exploring God’s plan for older citizens in this podcast, seniors will gain a better understanding of ways they can finish well. It is also our hope that seniors will thereby find greater joy in their lives than they had ever imagined for their aging years. We will endeavor to help the listener understand the role he or she already has as a senior seeking to finish well. We will also strive to illustrate how the finishing well track can fill a void too many of us feel about our worth, our value and our purpose in our aging years. If we are able to clarify the message we know the Lord wants all of us to grasp, we hope the listener will find a renewed sense of purpose, meaning and joy in his or her life every day.
Episode 37: Encouraging Future Generations: Our Adult Kids and our Grandkids
Those of us who are seniors may feel like there's nothing to offer a senior in high school, but our mandate as followers of Jesus has no age-out program! In this episode we'll discuss methods seniors can impact and encourage future generations, especially your own adult kids and grandkids. Visit finishingwellministries.org/podcast to hear more.
Dr Habecker Radio Interview with Harold Hendrick
Joan and Harold Hendrick have been together in marriage and service for a good long time. “Hendrick Ministries” is based in the St. Louis, MO area and is one of encouragement, connecting many believers with one another to advance the Kingdom of God.
In the radio dialogue with Hal, you will hear the “overflow” of his wisdom and experience. And we will hear Hal cite Scriptures from the Word of God that reenforces this mindset.
He notes that the word “retirement” is not in the Bible! Older people have so much to offer that they should not be “turned out to pasture” when they reach a certain age. They have so much wisdom and experience and … as followers of Jesus, they continue to want to serve Him!
Episode 24: Spiritual Giftedness
Spiritual gifts are given to everyone who believes, yet most don't know what their gifts even are, much less how to put them to use in the church. Perhaps that comes from a misunderstanding about why God even gives us gifts of the Spirit. In this episode, we will help you explore the why behind the what of Spiritual gifts so that when you learn what your gifts are, you can begin to see that age is no barrier to your effectiveness in the church! Episode 23: Natural Giftedness
Everyone has a set of natural gifts that they can use for the Kingdom. Sometimes we call this "how we're wired" or we take personality tests to determine the way we think, feel, and behave. Some are analytical, some are strong feelers, but whatever your natural giftedness, we don't put those talents away just because we're aging. God made you the way you are for a purpose! Episode 14: Conversation about Mentoring
Hal and Randy breakdown several models of mentoring based on a few important books about mentoring. Often, those of us in the later years of our lives have both the desire and the experience to be a good mentor, but we just don't know HOW to do it. If you are interested in becoming a mentor for a younger person, this podcast will give you practical tools to take your first step. Visit finishingwellministries.org/podcast to hear more.
Episode 10: Back to the Future: Retirement in a Culture of Entitlement
Culture says that when we retire, we enter into a time of life where we can do whatever we want and no one can say different! We've earned it! We go into our own little vault if we want to and spend the rest of our days finding new ways to relax. Is this Biblical? Or is it entitlement? Let's find out in this week's episode! Email your topic ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org and maybe we will talk about it on an upcoming episode. Visit finishingwellministries.org/podcast to hear more.
I happen to know these two gentlemen very well. This is a great listen for those of us trying to determine how best to leave a legacy to our children and grandchildren.
