    563. Insights: After Dark: Starting from scratch

    563. Insights: After Dark: Starting from scratch

    Welcome to the latest installment of After Dark, called Starting from Scratch. We are joined by the best and the brightest in fintech and financial services industry to talk all about starting from zero, and building better financial systems. What do we mean by that?

    Well, just imagine…

    The year is 2040. We have exhausted nearly all of the earth’s natural resources. Elon Musk/Jeff Bezos/Richard Branson and others like them have won the space race and the first colony has now arrived on Mars. Billions will follow over the weeks and months. There is much to be done.
    We are getting on our rocket to head off to Mars, tasked with building the planet’s first banking ecosystem.
    There are no rules, no regulations and no limits. We have the opportunity to shed the baggage of the existing systems on Earth and completely start again.

    To build a whole new banking system from scratch: What do you do? Where do you begin?

    Our fantastic panel conists of;

    Hosts:

    David Brear, 11:FS Group CEO
    Jason Bates, 11:FS Deputy CEO

    Guests:

    Marta Krupinska, Fintech founder & Head of Google for Startups UK
    Eric Van der Kleij, Builder of Tech Ecosystems, (Co)founder EdenBase.com, Level39.co, TechNation.io
    Dr Sian Lewin - Co-Founder and Head of Client Delivery at RegTech Associates

Love and frustration

Great podcast for all things FinTech. I always learn something and end up going down a research rabbit hole based on something I hear. I only wish you would focus more on making money. So much good stuff about transactions, innovations, talent etc but almost nothing about “how will it make money?” Without a bit more reality you sometimes sound like the cheerleaders for the dot com bubble before it blew. There is real money being made in FinTech - but not always…. And often in creative ways. Thank you!
