University of Texas AD Chris Del Conte joins The Flagship for an exclusive look inside Texas football and Tom Herman's coaching search Horns247 Podcasts: Longhorn Blitz, The Flagship and State of Recruiting

    • Football

Texas head coach Tom Herman has officially completed his coaching staff after spending the last two and a half months searching for his next wave of assistant coaches. The Longhorns introduced the seven new coaches to join Herman's staff this week, giving the newly-hired assistants — defensive coordinator Chris Ash, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich, wide receivers coach Andre Coleman, tight ends and special teams coach Jay Boulware, defensive line coach Mark Hagen, co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai — the chance to tell a little more about themselves with the local media.
Horns247 was in attendance for the initial interviews with the new coaches and had the opportunity to get to know what the Longhorns have added to the future.
On the latest episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes open the show with exclusive interviews with the UT staff and answer take some questions our valued Horns247 members sent in this week.
But the biggest news of the week is the special guest who made his debut on The Flagship Podcast with Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte joining the show for an exclusive 1-on-1 interview with the leader of University of Texas athletics. Del Conte gives an inside glimpse into what went down behind closed doors during Herman's coaching search and delivers the goods on the inner workings of Texas football, including how the south end zone renovation of Royal — Memorial Stadium will change the game day atmosphere and events at UT football games during the 2020 season.
Chip and Taylor close the show with some more questions from our valued Horns247 members and gets Valai's take on what makes Ash a special defensive mind after the new cornerbacks coach spent time as both a player and coach under the Longhorns' defensive coordinator.
Texas fans DO NOT want to miss out on the latest episode of The Flagship Podcast.
