    Husbands and Wives

    Husbands and Wives

Paul chose to set the controlling verb of this section in v. 21 "be being in submission to one another, in the fear of Christ." That pours over into his teaching to husbands and wives. The order is the reverse, but the weight of instruction falls mostly on husbands. Paul has changed his outlook on marriage from 9 years previous in 1 Cor. 7, to the point where he must apostically address the exploding churches in Asia Minor regarding God's "house law."

Holy Spirit filled exegetical teaching

It’s rare to find a pastor who teaches verse by verse and yet pursues the active expression of the work of the Holy Spirit. Dick Patterson is the exception and his teachings his excellent. He begins every book with an introduction that provides a rich background on the author, the culture and the historical context in which the book was written, and proceeds to teach through the book chronologically. He does not avoid difficult to understand passages and it is evident that he has done the work to study the passage using many commentaries and concordance. His introduction to the book of Galatians included and intro to Paul that was like nothing I had ever heard. His OT story of Jacob changed forever how I read the book of Genesis. I have grown in my understanding of scripture and it’s impact on how I love through this podcast. Thank you!!
