    Episode 3: Policing

    Episode 3: Policing

In Episode 3: Policing, we explore the impact of policing on communities. Our hosts Sheriff and Malika speak with Destiny Bell, a local Chicago organizer from No Cop Academy. The No Cop Academy campaign was formed in 2017 to stop the construction of a $95 million dollar police training academy, and they continue to rally around divestment from and demilitarization of the police. Destiny and our hosts share their experiences with police in their communities and schools and how though police are supposed to “protect” they actually cause more harm.

    Episode 1: Home

    Episode 1: Home

Episode 1: Home features a look at Child Protective Services (called the Department of Children and Families, or DCFS, in Illinois) and how their interventions often tear apart homes rather than providing support that would address the root causes of the family coming in contact with DCFS. We talk with individuals who have been impacted by DCFS family separation as children and as parents, as well as with young people who have been incarcerated in youth prisons to draw parallels between youth incarceration and family separation.
