As humans, we can spend a lot of time trying to understand and convey our significance. We communicate it through the clothes we wear, the messages we display, the music we listen to, and the stories we tell. From the first pages of Scripture, our life purpose is defined for us. And Jesus ultimately shows us what it really looks like to be human. In the first message of our series, Pastor Melissa unpacks what living for God’s glory means and invites us to enter into our human vocation.

Jesus said that his yoke is easy to bear, and that his burden is light. He says that he will give us rest if we will come to him. He will show us what it means to follow him, trust him, and live freely in the grace he provides. But what exactly does Jesus mean in Matthew 11:28-30? How do we enter the sabbath rest he offers, and experience his “yoke” of discipleship as life-giving? In his final message before going on a 3-month sabbatical, Pastor David expounds on what it means to take up the yoke of Christ, and then shares some of his plans for an extended time of resting in Jesus.

Jesus birthed his Church out of his own life, death, and resurrection. After the Holy Spirit is given to the disciples in Acts 2, communities of disciples begin to challenge society and the prevailing social structures. They believed that the gospel demanded the reordering of people’s lives around Jesus Christ. The planting of churches brought about a radical new understanding of “family” that included all those who desire to follow Jesus. In today’s message, Pastor David expounds upon this New Testament vision of “church family” and invites us to embody it at Grantham Church.

One of the last things that Jesus prayed for on the night of his arrest and impending death was that his church would be united in this dark and divided world. He prayed that his disciples would share in the oneness of God and display that unity as a witness to the world of the Father’s love and the power of the gospel. In this timely message, Pastor David invites us to see our unity in Christ as a spiritual fact and a spiritual fight, and challenges us to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit.
