157: Content publishing challenges, trust 'the long tail,' comms job titles

Those who create content for blogs and websites are well aware their traffic hasn't been the same for several years. We discuss a post that tees us up for how you can try and break through – perhaps with email newsletters, influencers and employees. And we get into it a bit about the notion that you need to create and distribute your best content possible, all the time. Also this month, a monster of a brand anniversary, the often forgotten truth of 'the long tail' of content marketing, plus a listener question about the job titles you see in communications job postings.

Timely, Relevant, Thoughtful

One of my favorite ways to stay up-to-date on PR/social/digital marketing topics. This podcast is like having two good friends in the industry that you occasionally get coffee with to “talk shop.” I’m always able to bring something into my next staff meeting and have my colleagues be impressed by how I’m able to keep up on new trends and developments. Shhh...don’t tell them my secret. ;-)

One of My Favorites

I've been listening to this podcast for several years now. It's one of the core 3-4 pods I listen to and I've always enjoyed the work Arik and Kevin put into it. They're smart, don’t take themselves too seriously and provide honest and insightful takes on what's happening in marketing, PR, and corporate comms. Added bonus, they don’t make is a 30 minute commercial about themselves. They’re always pointing out the good work of other people, both nationally and locally.

Subscribe and give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed.

Great Strategic Communications Insights

I was thrilled to learn Arik and Kevin had started a podcast and 24 episodes later, they haven’t disappointed once. These two public relations veterans provide interesting takes on the latest developments in professional communications fields every week and shake it up a bit with occasional guest hosts and interviews.

I’m a big fan.
