Nancy’s Do The Thing Retreat On Cape Cod: Early Bird pricing ends soon so learn more and **apply here.**

Let's talk power skills, Podsters.

We used to call collaboration, empathizing, and advocating for others “soft skills”. And this never sat very well with us. These “soft skills” are what makes a great leader and more often than not – “soft skills” is a term used when discussing the skills that women bring to the table. Soft.

Really?

Collaborating, empathizing, and advocating for others are 100 percent your power skills.

Power. Not soft.

Human connection has never been more important. A leader with conflict resolution, empathy, and creativity is highly sought after. Emotional Intelligence is highly valued when choosing who will lead a company, organization, or team. (More on emotional intelligence in an upcoming episode).

Women are inherently better negotiators. We're hard-wired to seek a resolution, advocate for others, and create a win-win situation. This is scientifically proven. Despite this, women do not have the same success as men when negotiating. Many women are coached or told to “be tough”, and “act like a man"; which actually backfires because they're not being their authentic selves. By doing this women are perceived as too aggressive or cutthroat.

Remember, professional doesn't always mean tough. It's about finding your authentic self and recognizing your strengths. Don't be afraid to be vulnerable and embrace your emotional intelligence. This superpower will take you far both personally and professionally.

What are your power skills?

Fall is almost here, and we're ready to kick it into high gear. Get ready for some powerful topics and game-changing guests. Let us know what you want to hear, and we'll make it happen!
