HolidayMoons was created because we love and celebrate holidays throughout the year, and we want to share our love with you. Holidays have always been important to our family, as a time to gather and enjoy the season together. This doesn’t just include the actual holiday day, but also includes the preparation and planning ahead of time. It includes decorating, going to festivals and events, watching related TV shows and movies, listening to seasonal music, cooking and eating, seasonal shopping, and best of all, enjoying how others, like you, have celebrated too.

Our vision for our content is to bring holiday celebrating for you to the next level, regardless of where you are starting from - from a first time celebrant to a seasoned veteran.

It all began with our family, four Moon’s, who dream of starting something completely new. Together, we established HolidayMoons, a company dedicated to serving up great holiday content for you. To learn more, browse through our site or contact us directly.

HolidayMoons Is Looking for Snow In 2020!

HolidayMoons Is Looking for Snow In 2020!

This podcast was created to share our love of the holidays, year round, with you.

Where's the snow? Not at our home, yet! But, there's good news! Our Winter podcasts continue, with or without the snow.

This week, we fill our Winter topics up first with the long history of snowmen. We then address the recent viewpoint of some that snowflakes aren't unique (spoiler alert: they are very unique). And finally, appropriate for our winter months, which are dark and cold, we look at the Danish hygge lifestyle. Hygge (pronounced hue-guh, not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cozy, charming or special. The undefinable feeling of hygge is a way to find moments to celebrate, acknowledge and break up the mundane or harsh. By creating simple rituals without effort {such as brewing real tea with a little china cup every evening, to stopping at the flower shop every week} the Danes see both the domestic and personal life as an art form and not a drudgery to get away from. We then apply hygge to our US lifestyles.

In this week's episode, we talk about ways to recycle your Christmas tree, from lakes and coast restoration, fish and bird habitats, to mulch and coasters (yep, coasters). And, as we close out the Yuletide season, it's time to replace our Santas, Nutcrackers, and Mangers with Snowmen, snow flakes, and winter scenes. And, we share another international holiday, as Cole discusses Sadeh, an ancient Persian festival.

HolidayMoons Ends 2019 with a Bang!

This podcast was created to share our love of the holidays, year round, with you.

We'll take a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne, And surely you will buy your cup, And surely I'll buy mine, And we'll take a cup o'kindness yet, For auld lang syne...

As the HolidayMoons say goodbye to 2019 and the decade of the 2010s, we sing (and describe) the most famous New Year's song, Auld Lang Syne. And since this song is Scottish in origin, thanks to its author, Robert Burns, we look at Hogmanay, which is Scotland's multi-day New Year's celebration, with many fascinating traditions and festivities. And, we are still within the 12 days of Christmas, which are the 12 days between Christmas and Epiphany on January 6th, we talk about the celebration of Orthodox Christmas around the world. And, finally, we wish you a happy and healthy 2020 to you and your families!
