Exploring how the gospel empowers us to think, speak and act differently in the public square. The Christian Civics Podcast features commentary, interviews, prayers and seminars exploring how we can respond to the civic and political turmoil around us with visible faithfulness.
The decisions we make about how to handle our earthly citizenship are an important part of our Christian discipleship. The Center for Christian Civics empowers local churches to be communities where people train one another to shine like lamps on stands--all across the political spectrum!

Episode 55: Defining Politics
Using one word for five different concepts is confusing at the best of time, but when that one word is controversial and emotionally charged, it makes acting with patience and wisdom even more difficult.
Before we launch Christian Civics Foundations, our Executive Director thought it would be helpful to take a few minutes to examine a few very different things we might mean when we use the word "politics."

Ep. 54: Gained in Translation
Dr. Doug Trick of the Canada Institute of Linguistics joins us this week to talk about how translating the Bible changes the way he thinks about not just evangelism and discipleship, but communication in general. Our host reflects on Dr. Trick's experiences and an old episode of "Doctor Who" to draw some conclusions about how we can argue more healthfully in the church.

Ep. 53: The View From the City Counil Chamber
You see your elected officials in public, but that doesn't really help you get to know everything that goes on behind the scenes to keep a government running.
This week, we welcome Evan Dame, town council member in the city of North Brentwood, Maryland, as he shares the challenges that caught him off guard and the way his church life helps him serve his neighbors well.

Great show
Rick is a rare breed, a person committed to sharing the gospel in a gracious and thoughtful way. More people should check them out.
Great listen!
Really enjoyed the podcast, Rick! Looking forward to more :)
Balanced, thoughtful, hopeful, challenging
I still don't know whether these people are Democrats or Republicans! Or what Christian denominations they belong to. But that's refreshing. I've learned more about both government and about Jesus through them.
I recommend listening at 1.5x speed because they talk quite slowly. And try to ignore the tediously repetitive theme music. Get past that and it's well worth it.
