Crime Junkie
I have listened to almost every episode atleast twice. I listen while I work. Sometimes the facts don’t make sense but over all I do recommend
Great Content, Bad Script Delivery
Let me start off by saying that I’m still early in the series! I’ve made my way to 2020, but can’t decide if I want to continue or not.
While, so far, the content and research have been great, I wish they’d give Brit more to do.
It’s definitely a personal annoyance but it seems like Brit’s sole purpose in the podcast is to read off a script of questions to prompt points that Ashley has written down, and unfortunately the delivery of the lines are very obvious.
I understand the desire of wanting to start a podcast with a close friend who has a shared interest and have someone to bounce off of (there are many successful examples of this, Small Town Murder being one), but this is so obviously scripted that it really takes me out of the story.
I don’t think this is Brit’s fault! I would love more genuine and organic reactions from her. Ashley shouldn’t have to rely on her delivering lines in order to bring up points or progress the story.
This could just be me being nit-picky. I’m not even sure if anyone shares my annoyances.
Does this get better? Or should I throw in the towel now?
Attitude check…but maybe it’s me?
I’ve started listening for 3 weeks now and Brit seems to ask very obvious or useless questions about useless details that interrupts the flow. And half the time Ashley has the answer without missing a beat that makes it seem scripted. Bc why wouldn’t Ashley just say it as she’s telling the story. And if Ashley doesn’t know the answer, she will say “well maybe” and that’s not what I want. I don’t want hypothetical answers. And Brit sometimes has this like “duh” attitude towards everything and to people during of the crime story, maybe things weren’t as obvious and even if it wasn’t, her annoyed attitude and “oh my god why what were the thinking” attitude is a complete turn off. She has the attitude of thinking everyone in the story stupid. And it’s not nice to hear it. Maybe it’s her frustration but her delivery is poor. Or maybe it’s just me.
