Child stars and social workers
From Corey Feldman, and Judy Garland, to Lindsay Lohan, Macaulay Culkin, and Britney Spears, there is a long history of child stars succumbing to the pressure of the public eye. But what about child stars of the modern age - i.e. social media stars? Is there a duty on social workers to intervene with children who are in the public eye? Who determines what risk these children are at? And at what age are children truly able to consent to being shared with the world?
Join our hosts Vince and Cara for this week's episode of Social Work Radio, inspired by THIS article, published this week at www.mysocialworknews.com

Have there been a lot of ‘hairy’ experiences in the line of duty, and is it fair for social workers to ask clients to take their pets out of the room? This week, following on from THIS Social Work Supervision column published this week at www.mysocialworknews.com, our hosts Vince and Cara discuss pets, home visits, and the effect this can have on your connection with a client.

Great resource!
I am so glad I found your podcast. It is wonderful to hear your perspectives about social work. I have been a case manager/social worker for people with developmental delays in the USA for the past 30 years. It is good to know social workers around the world can connect and relate to each other. Keep up the great work!
Longtime Fan!
Been a fan of Vince since the SWT Facebook page and podcast, and loved when Tilly joined the podcast. These two walk the line of humor and seriousness about the profession incredibly well. I enjoy listening to them weekly and missed hearing their voices in the interim between the SWT podcast and this one. Very glad to have them back!
Totally Relatable
Having worked in child protection in California for over 25 years, I appreciate this podcast because the hosts totally understand the job. There are different terminologies and procedures between UK and US but the issues, concerns and rewards are the same. I enjoy figuring out the differences. We all struggle with balancing the demands of the job and the desires of a personal life and I have found the podcast reminds me I’m not alone and challenges me in practice and raising my professionalism.
