The Return of Peter Lawwell | The Pros, The Cons & Everything In Between

The Return of Peter Lawwell | The Pros, The Cons & Everything In Between

In a move that surprised absolutely no one, Celtic confirmed last week that former Chief Executive Peter Lawwell will return to the club as Chairman in 2023.
This is an issue which completely splits opinion amongst the Celtic support.
Many maintain that Peter Lawwell should be nowhere near the club following the failings of the 2020/21 season and his subsequent exit.
Some think the man who presided over 29 trophies, including 13 league titles and a Quadruple Treble can do no wrong.
And others still are somewhere in between!
We take a closer look at Lawwell’s imminent return and what it could mean for the club.
Could it derail the progress Ange is making?
Why wasn’t it announced at the AGM?
And have Celtic failed to read the room once again?

Is Ange Now Prioritising Defence As Celtic’s Best Form of Attack? | Time Up For Juranovic

Is Ange Now Prioritising Defence As Celtic’s Best Form of Attack? | Time Up For Juranovic

Following confirmation that Japanese centre-half Yuki Kobayashi will become Celtic's first signing of the January window, and with Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston set to follow, is it clear that Ange Postecoglou has now prioritised Celtic's defence as an area for improvement?
Whilst our league form has been excellent so far, we've still conceded almost a goal a game (13 from 15 games) in the Scottish Premiership, whilst also conceding 15 from just 6 Champions League group games.
Ange made similar moves in the summer to strengthen defensively with the additions of Moritz Jenz (on loan from Lorient) and Alexandro Bernabei arriving from Argentina, but will he be happy to put away the cheque book (for now) once Kobayashi and Johnston arrive at Celtic Park?
Enjoy the latest instalment of The Celtic Exchange Weekly as Ange prepares to enter his 4th transfer window as Celtic manager.

Going Behind the Numbers on Celtic’s Half-Term Report Card | The Ange Evolution Continues

Celtic’s 2-1 win over Ross County on Saturday was the club’s twenty-third game of what’s been an eventful season so far.
In the Scottish Premiership it’s been a season of success and consistency.
In Europe we’ve learned some harsh lessons at the hands of more experienced teams. Teams who boast some of the world’s best players.
Ange Postecoglou doesn’t have a problem with that though.
    He likes lessons.
    He likes learning.
And he knows how valuable these lessons will be to his young squad.
So what will they have learned as we now enter the World Cup break?
How have the results stacked up overall? What about the performances? And are we better now than we were twelve months ago?
We go behind the numbers and look at the players who have made us tick in those twenty or so appearances.
The one’s who Ange relies on time after time, and the ones who reward his trust by putting in match winning displays.
Listen in as we debate the half-term report card and discuss how the ongoing evolution of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic is shaping up.

Ange’s Aggressive New Transfer Strategy | Celtic Eye Lucrative Rewards in Champions League Shake Up

Ange’s Aggressive New Transfer Strategy | Celtic Eye Lucrative Rewards in Champions League Shake Up

One of the most exciting pieces of news to come out of Celtic's recent AGM was confirmation from Ange Postecoglou that the club will be undertaking an "aggressive" new transfer strategy as we aim to bridge the gap between ourselves and Europe's biggest clubs.
This may mean fans having to bid farewell to some of the current crop of heroes, but the flip side of course is that new heroes will emerge as we continue to progress under Ange's leadership.
Chief Financial Officer Chris McKay also spoke at the AGM of the importance of Champions League qualification on a consistent basis and confirmed exciting new plans for a revamped format of the tournament from the 2024/25 season, which could open the door to lucrative new revenues for the club.
